But I would like to submit that religion does not sanction such cruelty. Which Hindu text demands from its followers to parade One Hundred and Fifteen elephants in a particular temple? (like in South Paravoor temple) If it is not for God's, then for whose pleasure?  Mainly for those people who own an elephant, and for those who take the ownership of a particular elephant for a particular festival season, say 5to 6 months. Secondly for the  poor, innocent crowd, who have no concern about other animals.  Scroll India did a good job by focusing on such a big issue. Congratulation.  It is cruel. Does everybody know bulls have to be castrated before they can be made to plough fields? We need to make realistic laws and make everybody a stakeholder.The argument of domestic animal vs wild is thin.Who gave us rights to cows and bulls just because they reproduce in areas that are not forests? All animals including man are wild.If you have any doubt,look at what men do to men?
