A poem by B.Asok Kumar.

I  NEVER  SAW  HIM  SLEPT

I am proud to be his son

And loved to be in his hands

But rude conquered attraction

And we had to keep a distance.

In déjà vu at times, I felt

The warmth of his hands

And I felt as if in a felt

And never felt the distance.

My father was like a sun

Gave all the lights in my life

I flourished in his warmth and

He cared from a distance.

Guided through the light to dark

Squeezed light to make dark and

Energy came out made me spark

However he seared at a distance.

And through the dark to light

He cared to make life light

When I got ready for the light

He wiped shadow from a distance.

Fear frail in his presence

And I stood up to strive hard

To impress the impossible

He gazed me from a distance.

Neither did he touch me once

Nor allow me to come near

But was evaporating my tear

Still he maintained a distance.

The son didn’t see the sun

Didn’t realize the love and care

And failed to reciprocate as

He was only seeing the distance.

Now through the sun I cognize

And memories poured in alive

I realized the efforts he made

To see me eased at a distance.

Heuristic was his method

Children looked him to grow

Nature nurtured them grow

He enjoyed it at a distance.

I never saw him slept and

He moved with the same vigor

And to emulate him I emanate

Vibrantly conquering the distance.

The sun too loved his son

But his perception that

Fondling will spoil the child

Made him to keep a distance

And spun he behind a shadow

To give son the warmth of sleep

And made son wake up at ease

I knew sun can’t rest in peace.

read the poem I never saw him slept- where the poet expresses how a paarent can control children and the poet himself recognises the parents’ love.

Sensitive portrayal of suppressed and misunderstood love, affection. I feel real experience of becoming a father could have made the author realise his father’s love.

    Sir

A good piece of work!….,This might be the feeling of most of the middle class Indians who believe that showing of intimacy spoil the future of their kins. Most of the time we realise their love…, but prefer to be at a distance. Once again good work!………Expect more such works

Nice work…congrats, thank you for this truly touching poem. Surely, this poem is one of the best emotional poem i have ever read. Each line has brought me through the nostalgic times i had with my father. It underlines the value of relation between a father and a son. More over i liked the style of writing. Hope you would continue to amaze the readers with your wonderful poems, wish you all the success in life.

Asok Kumar’s poem “I never saw him sleep” deserves a warm appreciation as it recalls the warmth of a singular and unique relation that many of us pamper deep iside one’s heart. Irrespective of how the surface behaviour looks like ,He is trying to see the magnanimity of the relation with his father in it’s new depth.
More over, a fond and affectionate rememberance brings a person who gone beyond the curtains of past, back to life to live through the memmories of the present -that lights an eternal flame.
A good style of narration that certainly brings a mood of love and gratitude ….

An excellent work….I wish you greater heights in your narrative capacities.

The affection to a father  in the poem is very different and is a guide to the new generation where most try to be friendly but  fails!

Really good one Sir!! Seems like you are an experienced writer !!

You could describe parent-child relationship clearly. You got a good mentor as father, and you as a child could relalize the benefits of his mentorship.

    Exepecting more poems in future…

Congrats and Wish you all the best.

    With
    Warm Regards,

    Viswa

My father was like a sun

Gave all the lights in my life, and now the sun is proud of you, because of the poem penned by his lad. Yes, life is always full of memoirs – recollections of much-loved. All that ends, when darkness stretches its wings

May the influence engrave more verse.

The poet describes his relation with his father through nature.

He sees the same love and affection between sun and all living things on earth.
For a child father is the embodiment of strength.

    Definitely nature nurtures.

outstanding and fabulous narration of father n son relation of an era…nostalgic and highly emotive!!
but now, d distance between father n son/daughter is eliminated…more friendly, hold’em close to heart, share their little big things n giv lots of hugs n with them all the way like a full moon…
